William J. Chesnut, MD

Retired Orthopaedic Surgeon

Dr. Chesnut graduated from Georgetown College in Georgetown, Kentucky in 1963 with a Bachelors of Science degree. He then went on to Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, Tennessee and earned his Doctorate of Medicine in 1967. He then served an internship at the Vanderbilt University Hospital Department of Surgery. After completing a general surgery residency at Georgia Baptist Hospital he entered the United States Air Force as a general medical officer. When he finished his service in the Air Force in 1971, he then served an orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Utah Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Dr. Chesnut was certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery in October of 1976. He is also a member of a number of medical societies such as, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American College of Surgeons, New Mexico Medical Society, The Association for Arthritic Hip and Knee Surgery, and The Western Orthopaedic Society.

Dr. Chesnut has been practicing orthopaedics since 1974, starting with Albuquerque Orthopaedic Associates, and then opened a practice with a fellow orthopaedic physician. He now practices general orthopaedics with our practice, Orthopaedic Bone & Joint Specialists, PA.

His general interests are his two daughters, piloting, and riding horses.
